Maribel Chavez, a former employee of GeoLinks, has filed a lawsuit alleging severe workplace misconduct that led to her wrongful termination. The complaint was lodged by Chavez on May 5, 2025, in the Superior Court of California for Ventura County against her former employer, California Internet LP doing business as GeoLinks, and its interim CEO Melinda White.

The case revolves around allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation during Chavez's tenure at GeoLinks. Hired as an HR Manager on July 20, 2022, Chavez claims she faced discriminatory practices based on her sex and perceived disability. Her complaint outlines a series of grievances beginning with the appointment of Melinda White as interim CEO in May 2024. According to Chavez, White made inappropriate comments that contributed to a hostile work environment. Further accusations include White's interference in investigations into misconduct by senior staff members recommended by her.

Chavez alleges that after she began investigating complaints from other employees about harassment and unethical conduct by senior management, including Senior VP of Marketing Javier Mendoza and Senior VP of Sales Christine Morris, she faced retaliation. This included attempts to derail her investigation and eventually being presented with an ultimatum regarding her employment status. The situation culminated in her termination while she was on medical leave for adjustment disorder in December 2024.

Chavez is seeking economic damages for lost wages and benefits due to wrongful termination and non-economic damages for emotional distress caused by the alleged actions of GeoLinks' management. She also seeks punitive damages under California Civil Code section 3294 for what she describes as malicious conduct intended to harm her career. Furthermore, Chavez demands compensation for legal fees incurred during this process.

Representing Maribel Chavez are attorneys Carney R. Shegerian and David Galloway from Shegerian & Associates Inc., based in Los Angeles. The case is identified under Case No.: 2025 CLIT 042361 2 and will be presided over by judges from the Superior Court of California for Ventura County.
