A class action lawsuit has been filed against a construction and painting company, alleging widespread violations of labor laws. The complaint was filed by Steve Ferman Canton on April 30, 2025, in the Superior Court of California for Ventura County against Precision Construction and Painting Inc. The case accuses the company of failing to pay wages for all hours worked at minimum wage, not paying overtime wages properly, denying meal and rest periods, failing to indemnify employees for work-related expenses, providing inaccurate wage statements, and not paying final wages timely upon employment termination.

The plaintiff, Steve Ferman Canton, represents himself and others similarly situated in this class action lawsuit. According to the complaint, Canton alleges that Precision Construction and Painting Inc., along with unnamed defendants referred to as DOES 1-100, have violated several sections of the California Labor Code. These alleged violations include failure to pay minimum wage as required by Labor Code Sections 1194 and 1197, failure to pay overtime wages according to Sections 510 and 1194, failure to authorize or permit meal periods in violation of Sections 512 and 226.7, among others.

Canton claims that he and other hourly non-exempt employees were not compensated for all hours worked due to company policies requiring them to perform tasks off-the-clock. Additionally, they were allegedly denied legally mandated meal and rest breaks or compensation in lieu thereof. The lawsuit further asserts that employees incurred business-related expenses without reimbursement from the employer as mandated by Labor Code Section 2802.

The plaintiff seeks various forms of relief from the court including unpaid wages with interest, statutory penalties for each violation of labor laws cited in the complaint, liquidated damages equal to unpaid minimum wages under Section 1194.2, attorneys' fees pursuant to Sections 218.5 and 1194 of the Labor Code, costs incurred during litigation proceedings as well as injunctive relief prohibiting future violations by Precision Construction and Painting Inc.

Representing Steve Ferman Canton are attorneys Joseph Lavi Esq., Vincent C. Granberry Esq., Jeffrey D. Klein Esq., and Daniel C. Keller Esq., from Lavi & Ebrahimian LLP based in Beverly Hills. The case is being heard under Case No.: 2OU2SCMIUIOEOD4 33486 in front of a judge yet unnamed.
