A former employee is taking legal action against a non-profit organization, alleging severe workplace discrimination and labor violations. Mary Jane Rabe filed a complaint on May 2, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura, against Momentum Agencies. The lawsuit accuses the organization of racial and age discrimination, harassment, and numerous labor code violations.

Mary Jane Rabe's allegations detail a troubling work environment at Momentum Agencies, where she claims to have faced discrimination based on her race and national origin as an Asian Filipino. She alleges that after an employee named Sa-Sha was promoted to Regional Director, she experienced increased discrimination and harassment. This included incidents where her personal belongings were discarded by Sa-Sha and another employee, Danika Lewis. Furthermore, Rabe claims she was repeatedly passed over for promotions in favor of less experienced Black American employees. The complaint also describes biased scheduling practices that unfairly burdened non-Black employees like herself.

Rabe's lawsuit further outlines several labor law violations by Momentum Agencies. She asserts that the organization failed to provide legally mandated meal and rest periods and did not compensate her for overtime hours worked. Specific instances include working graveyard shifts without receiving overtime pay and being required to work off-the-clock without compensation. Additionally, Rabe accuses the company of failing to provide accurate wage statements and neglecting to reimburse her for using her personal vehicle for work-related duties.

The plaintiff seeks damages for emotional distress, lost wages, unpaid wages including overtime compensation, statutory penalties for non-compliant wage statements, civil penalties under applicable Labor Code provisions, restitution and injunctive relief under Business and Professions Code § 17200 et seq., prejudgment interest at the legal rate, reasonable attorney's fees under various statutes or legal theories, costs of suit incurred herein; and other relief deemed just by the court.

Representing Mary Jane Rabe are attorneys Justin R. Wilmers and Caleb A. Miller from Miller Wilmers APC law firm. The case has been assigned Case No.: 2025 (CU yYT 043516) in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles.
