Federal Insurance Company has filed a lawsuit against Puretec Industrial Water, alleging negligence, breach of implied warranties, and product liability in connection with multiple water system failures that caused extensive damage to the property of Hygiena LLC. The complaint was filed on January 13, 2025, in the Superior Court of California for Ventura County.

The case stems from a series of incidents involving a reverse osmosis water filtration system installed by Puretec at Hygiena's office in Camarillo, California. According to the complaint, Federal Insurance Company insured Hygiena's property and had to pay over $247,242.79 due to damages resulting from leaks and faulty installations by Puretec. The first incident occurred on October 4, 2023, when a leak caused significant flooding due to an improperly sealed pipe connection. A second leak followed on October 27, 2023, attributed to defective installation and maintenance practices by Puretec technicians. A third leak on November 3, 2023, resulted from a faulty regulator installation and led to further substantial damage.

Federal Insurance Company claims that Puretec failed in its duty of care during the design, assembly, inspection, and maintenance of the water filtration system. The plaintiff argues that these failures constitute negligence and breach of implied warranties because the system was not fit for its intended purpose. Furthermore, Federal Insurance Company alleges product liability due to defects present at the time of manufacture and distribution.

In their legal action against Puretec Industrial Water and unnamed defendants (Does 1 through 10), Federal Insurance Company seeks general damages amounting to $247,242.79 as well as special damages according to proof. They also request interest on the principal amount of damages incurred and reimbursement for attorneys' fees and court costs as permitted by law.

The case is being handled by attorney Adesh Singh from Cozen O'Connor representing Federal Insurance Company. The presiding judge is yet unnamed in Case No.: #U25CLUIPLO3 F085.
