Plaintiff Alleges Medical Negligence Against Healthcare Providers Resulting in Cancer Diagnosis

State Court

Sarah R. Murray has filed a lawsuit against a medical group and a doctor, alleging medical negligence that resulted in her cancer diagnosis. The complaint was submitted to the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura, on December 28, 2024, targeting the Women's Health Group of Ventura and Dr. Patrick W. Diesfeld.

The case revolves around allegations that Sarah R. Murray received substandard medical care from the defendants over several years, which ultimately led to her cancer diagnosis. According to the complaint, Murray began consulting with the defendants as early as December 16, 2020, seeking professional advice for her symptoms and medical care needs. Despite undergoing multiple ultrasounds and consultations over the years, it wasn't until November 1, 2023, during a routine ultrasound that a mass was discovered on her right ovary. This discovery led to her cancer diagnosis on November 21, 2023.

Murray's complaint accuses the defendants of failing to exercise the necessary degree of skill and care expected from healthcare providers in their field. She alleges that their negligence caused her significant physical and emotional suffering and has resulted in permanent disability. "Defendants' wrongful acts and omissions giving rise to liability commenced in or about 2020," states the complaint.

The plaintiff is seeking various forms of relief from the court. These include general damages for personal injury, compensation for past and future medical expenses, damages for loss of earnings due to her inability to work following her diagnosis, pre-judgment interest according to law, costs incurred from filing the suit, and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

Representing Sarah R. Murray is Bruce M. Bunch from the Law Offices of Bruce M. Bunch in Westlake Village, California. The case has been assigned Case No: 2U25CUMMO3F105 at the Superior Court of California in Ventura County.
