Jake Stute, a former employee of a California-based company, has filed a lawsuit alleging a series of workplace violations that include discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination. The complaint was filed by Jake Stute in the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura on April 23, 2025, against Beam Bridge Corp doing business as Styline Door & Window Systems and Samuel Ward.
The lawsuit details an extensive list of grievances that Stute claims he endured during his employment with the defendants from September 2015 until April 2023. According to the complaint, Stute alleges that he faced disability discrimination and harassment in violation of the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), failure to provide reasonable accommodations for his disabilities, retaliation for reporting unsafe working conditions and wage violations, assault and battery by his supervisor Samuel Ward, among other charges. "Defendants' conduct alleged herein constitutes malice, oppression, and/or fraud," states the complaint. The plaintiff accuses the defendants of creating a hostile work environment where employees were discouraged from taking legally mandated breaks and where safety protocols were routinely ignored.
Stute's allegations are supported by numerous instances cited in the filing. He recounts being screamed at and spat upon by Samuel Ward after following incorrect instructions provided by Ward himself. Additionally, Stute describes being pressured to lie about workplace injuries when seeking medical treatment. The complaint also outlines how Stute was subjected to verbal abuse for raising concerns about unsafe work practices such as using unsupported scaffolding or handling heavy machinery without proper training. In one particularly alarming incident detailed in the filing, Stute claims he was physically assaulted by Ward which resulted in him sustaining a neck strain.
The plaintiff is seeking economic damages for lost wages and benefits due to wrongful termination, non-economic damages for emotional distress caused by the alleged harassment and discrimination, punitive damages due to what he describes as malicious conduct by the defendants, as well as attorneys' fees and costs associated with bringing this lawsuit forward. "Plaintiff has suffered significant emotional distress including but not limited to shock, disbelief...and insomnia," reads part of the claim regarding non-economic damages.
