Utah Governor Spencer J. Cox has appointed Ballard Spahr Litigation Partner Melanie J. Vartabedian to the state’s Securities Commission.
The Securities Commission is an independent group that advises the Division of Securities. It is composed of five Utah citizens; two members from the securities brokerage community, one from the securities section of the Utah State Bar, one from a corporation which is not a reporting company, and one from the public at large who has no active participation in the securities industry. The members serve four-year terms.
Ms. Vartabedian, who is a member of Ballard Spahr’s Securities Enforcement and Corporate Governance Litigation, handles complex commercial litigation matters, with a focus on financial fraud. She has particular experience handling all aspects of federal equity receivership matters. She has represented receivers, served as a receiver, and defended entities and individuals sued by receivers. She currently serves as the Chair of the Securities Section of the Utah State Bar, where she develops programming and training for members.
