LOS ANGELES - A March 30 lawsuit filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court accuses Delta Airlines and Grupo AeroMexico Airlines of neglecting a 78-year-old blind and disabled passenger.

According to the complaint, plaintiff Zaira S. Llancan Azocar arrived at the Los Angeles International Airport on March 15, 2019, on a flight from Grupo AeroMexico. An employee of one of the defendants allegedly wheeled the plaintiff to her gate for her next flight and left her their unattended for over an hour, until she learned that her flight's terminal and gate had been changed.

The plaintiff says that when she asked for assistance to get her to her new terminal gate, defendant employees denied her wheelchair assistance and instead told Azocar to hurry up and not miss her flight.

While trying to get to the gate on her own, Azocar fell and sustained serious injuries.

The defendants are charged with negligence, Unruh Civil Rights Act violation, California Disabled Persons Act violation and negligent hiring, supervision or retention. Azocar is represented by Lebedev, Michael and Helmi APLC.

The defendants removed the case to Los Angeles federal court on April 6.
