Ballard Spahr LLP issued the following announcement on Feb. 23.
Daniel M. Mayeda, an attorney in the Los Angeles office of Ballad Spahr, has been appointed to the Los Angeles County Citizens Redistricting Commission (CRC) and elected as its co-chair.
The Los Angeles County CRC will be drawing the district lines for the five members of the County Board of Supervisors—widely recognized as among the most powerful local elected officials other than large-city mayors in the country—based on geographic area covered, population represented, and money to be allocated. The Los Angeles CRC will hold seven public hearings in spring 2021 before U.S. Census Bureau data for the 2020 Census is released. It will hold two further public hearings in fall 2021 to review proposed redistricting plan options.
Mr. Mayeda litigates media, publishing, and entertainment matters and handles insurance coverage disputes involving those industries. He also is the associate director of the Documentary Film Legal Clinic at UCLA School of Law.
