A former employee has taken legal action against a company for alleged labor violations, spotlighting issues that could affect many current and former workers. Luid A. Rubio Velazquez filed a complaint on April 18, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura, against OVIS LLC. The lawsuit accuses the company of numerous violations under the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) related to wage and hour laws.

The complaint by Velazquez alleges that OVIS LLC failed to pay its hourly non-exempt employees in California all due wages, including minimum and overtime wages. Velazquez claims that employees were not compensated for all hours worked at the required rates and were denied legally mandated meal and rest breaks. "Defendants suffered, permitted, and required Plaintiff and other aggrieved employees to be subject to Defendants’ control without paying wages for that time," states the complaint. These practices allegedly led to unpaid work hours, violating sections of the California Labor Code such as 201, 202, 203, among others.

Velazquez's lawsuit further accuses OVIS LLC of providing inaccurate wage statements and failing to pay all earned wages promptly upon termination or resignation. The plaintiff argues these actions were willful and intentional breaches of employment law designed to underpay workers secretly while appearing compliant with statutory requirements. As a result of these alleged violations, Velazquez seeks civil penalties on behalf of himself and other affected employees. He also demands reasonable attorneys' fees as stipulated under Labor Code section 2699(g).

In terms of relief sought from the court, Velazquez requests a judgment declaring that OVIS LLC violated various provisions of the Labor Code and IWC Wage Orders concerning him and other aggrieved employees. He is pursuing applicable penalties during the relevant statute limitations period along with attorneys' fees and costs recoverable under California law.

The case is being handled by attorneys Joseph Lavi, Vincent C. Granberry, Jeffrey D. Klein, and J. Jason Hill from Lavi & Ebrahimian LLP representing Luid A Rubio Velazquez. The case is filed under Case No.: 2025CIV0042408 in front of an unspecified judge at this time.
