Margaret McDonald, a partner at global law firm Reed Smith, is among 40 honorees selected at the Business Insurance 2025 Break Out Awards.
The highly competitive national award recognizes outstanding performers with up to 15 years of experience in the insurance and risk management sector. The award program honors 40 top professionals on track to be the next leaders in the risk management and property/casualty insurance field. Winners are recognized for leadership and professional skills and are selected from across the insurance industry.
A member of the firm’s Insurance Recovery Group, McDonald is an experienced litigator and has worked on a wide range of coverage disputes, involving directors & officers, employment practices liability, commercial general liability, property and mortgage policies. Commensurate with the broad scope of her insurance practice, she has represented clients in numerous areas of industry, including technology, transportation, entertainment and pharmaceuticals as well as public entities and investor-owned public utilities.
As a third-generation Angelino with deep ties to the Los Angeles community and based in the firm’s Los Angeles office, McDonald is an active member of Reed Smith’s task force providing client and pro bono services for the victims of the devastating wildfires, including advising them on complicated and nuanced insurance policy language to help in the recovery and rebuilding of their homes, businesses and community.
Reed Smith lawyers have provided over 800 hours of pro bono services to LA wildfire victims.
