A California healthcare company is facing a class-action lawsuit for allegedly violating labor laws, potentially affecting hundreds of employees. On March 6, 2025, Nora Monreal Ortiz filed a complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura, against Milwood Healthcare, Inc., accusing the company of multiple labor code violations.

Ortiz's lawsuit claims that Milwood Healthcare systematically failed to pay minimum and overtime wages, neglected to provide meal and rest breaks, and did not reimburse necessary business expenses. "Defendants maintained a systematic, company-wide policy and practice," Ortiz alleges in her complaint. The suit details how the company allegedly required employees to work off-the-clock and interrupted their meal breaks without compensation. Furthermore, Ortiz asserts that Milwood Healthcare failed to incorporate all remuneration when calculating overtime rates, leading to underpayment.

The complaint also accuses Milwood Healthcare of failing to provide accurate wage statements and timely payment of final wages upon termination. Ortiz argues that these practices violate various sections of the California Labor Code and Business & Professions Code. The plaintiff contends that the company's actions were willful and deliberate, causing significant harm to current and former employees.

Ortiz seeks class certification for her lawsuit, representing all hourly-paid, non-exempt employees who worked for Milwood Healthcare in California during the applicable statute of limitations period. She demands restitution for unpaid wages, interest on unpaid compensation, liquidated damages for minimum wage violations, statutory penalties for inaccurate wage statements, and attorneys' fees. Additionally, she requests injunctive relief to prevent further unlawful practices by the defendants.

The case is being handled by attorneys Kane Moon, Allen Feghali, and S. Phillip Song from Moon Law Group PC. The case ID is 2025 CLUIONEODS9846.
