Village Repair Partners LP and Gas Station Real Estate Corp. have launched a legal battle against a former employee, accusing him of a series of serious violations that could potentially cost them millions. On February 4, 2025, the plaintiffs filed a complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura, against Matt Gann, alleging multiple infractions including computer fraud and breach of contract.

The lawsuit stems from allegations that Matt Gann, who served as operations manager for Gas Station Real Estate Corp. (GSR), used his position to gain unauthorized access to sensitive company data both during and after his employment. According to the complaint, Gann's tenure with GSR lasted from January 3, 2024, until September 9, 2024. During this time, he reportedly had access to proprietary information crucial to the business operations of both GSR and Village Repair Partners LP (VRP). The plaintiffs claim that Gann exploited this access by creating undisclosed usernames and passwords for himself and others to continue accessing company systems without detection.

The plaintiffs allege that Gann's actions were part of a broader scheme aimed at obtaining confidential data for personal gain. This included altering passwords and accessing email accounts post-termination from IP addresses linked to his residence in Camarillo. Such actions allegedly resulted in significant disruptions to the businesses' operations. "Defendants’ misconduct was wide-spread," the complaint states, highlighting numerous instances where unauthorized access attempts were recorded between October and November 2024.

Moreover, the lawsuit accuses Gann of breaching his severance agreement by failing to return company property and using corporate credit cards for personal expenses after his termination. The plaintiffs argue that these breaches have allowed Gann to unfairly compete with them by leveraging their trade secrets—an act they claim has caused them over $2 million in damages.

In addition to seeking compensatory damages exceeding $2 million, Village Repair Partners LP and Gas Station Real Estate Corp. are requesting injunctive relief to prevent further unauthorized access or use of their proprietary information. They also seek exemplary damages due to what they describe as "despicable" conduct on the part of Gann.

Representing the plaintiffs is David R. Fisher from Fisher, Klein & Wolfe LLP. The case has been assigned Case No. 2OU25CUBTOSFa2S under unlimited jurisdiction in the Superior Court of California for Ventura County.
