Adriana Yarelis De Jesus has filed a significant lawsuit against a major e-commerce corporation, alleging multiple labor law violations and discrimination. The complaint was filed on January 22, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura, against Amazon.com Services, LLC. This case could have broad implications for employment practices within large corporations.

The plaintiff, Adriana Yarelis De Jesus, claims that during her employment from August 2, 2022, to September 22, 2023, she faced numerous violations of labor laws and discriminatory practices due to her pregnancy. She accuses Amazon.com Services of failing to pay for all hours worked and overtime wages as required by the California Labor Code. De Jesus alleges that she was made to work off the clock by undergoing security checks before being allowed to clock in and that her wage statements were inaccurate. Furthermore, she claims that after informing her employer about her pregnancy and requesting accommodations supported by a doctor's note, her manager denied these requests and assigned her tasks involving heavy lifting.

De Jesus's complaint also highlights issues with unfair competition practices and seeks penalties under the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) for herself and other aggrieved employees. The allegations include failure to provide suitable seating for employees when not actively engaged in work duties. Additionally, De Jesus argues that Amazon.com Services retaliated against her after she reported these issues internally. She states that after escalating her concerns about the lack of accommodation to HR following an unproductive discussion with management, she was terminated without prior notice.

The plaintiff is seeking comprehensive relief from the court. This includes damages for unpaid wages and overtime compensation along with penalties for wage statement violations and waiting time penalties due to delayed final paychecks post-termination. She is also pursuing compensatory damages for emotional distress caused by alleged discrimination based on pregnancy under the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA). Furthermore, De Jesus demands punitive damages due to what she describes as willful misconduct by Amazon.com Services.

Representing Adriana Yarelis De Jesus are attorneys Manny Starr and Daniel Ginzburg from Frontier Law Center. The case is presided over in Ventura County's Superior Court under Case No. #2025CUQE037385.
