Jolie Bruns has filed a compelling lawsuit against Los Robles Regional Medical Center and Dr. Hazel B. Abaya, accusing them of medical malpractice leading to the wrongful death of her mother, Tamara Le Aukes. The complaint was officially lodged in the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura, on January 22, 2025. This legal action highlights serious allegations regarding the quality of care provided by the defendants.

According to the court documents, Jolie Bruns is seeking justice for her mother's untimely death on February 7, 2022. She claims that Los Robles Regional Medical Center and Dr. Abaya failed to provide adequate medical care, which directly resulted in Tamara Le Aukes' demise. The complaint outlines that Tamara consulted with these healthcare providers for professional advice concerning her symptoms and medical needs. Unfortunately, it is alleged that the treatment administered was negligent, particularly concerning her asthma and blood pressure management with Labetalol, which led to heart complications and ultimately cardiac arrest.

The lawsuit emphasizes that this negligence not only caused physical harm but also significant emotional distress to Tamara Le Aukes before her passing. Jolie Bruns contends that her mother endured "unjustifiable and substantial physical pain" due to the substandard care she received from the defendants. As a result of these alleged failures in medical judgment and practice, Jolie Bruns seeks damages under California's Civil Code section 3333.2(b), which addresses non-economic damages in such cases.

Jolie Bruns is requesting several forms of relief from the court: general damages for emotional suffering; compensation for funeral and burial expenses; economic losses related to household services; pre-death pain and suffering damages specific to Tamara's experience; as well as pre-judgment interest and other costs associated with bringing this suit forward. Through this legal action, she aims not only to seek financial compensation but also accountability from those responsible for her mother's care.

Representing Jolie Bruns in this matter is Bruce M. Bunch from the Law Offices of Bruce M. Bunch. The case is being overseen by Judge Alex Lopez under Case No. 20275CUMMOsr 37a in Ventura County's Superior Court.
