Jones Day Intellectual Property partner Randy Kay has been selected by the Daily Journal as a Top Trade Secrets Lawyer for the sixth time—he has been included on the list annually since its inception in 2019. Chair of Jones Day's global Trade Secrets team, he has successfully led some of the most notable and sizable trade secret lawsuits in the United States.
Recent highlights include achieving a complete victory following arbitration and federal court proceedings on behalf of a European scientific company in its trade secret and licensing dispute with a former collaborator. In that matter, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania recently confirmed a favorable arbitration award from the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Kay also recently represented a corporate victim in a criminal trade secret lawsuit in the Eastern District of Tennessee where the court sentenced the defendant scientist to fourteen years of imprisonment. Mr. Kay currently has a number of trade secret representations for life sciences companies against former employees and competitors involving contested patent rights. His trade secret practice focuses on technology, telecommunications, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and medical device matters.
