Fox Rothschild congratulates Sahara Pynes, who was recognized in the 2024 list of Top Women Lawyers in California by the Daily Journal.
Pynes is highlighted for her passion for “supporting other women” and her creativity in finding platforms to reach them. She organizes women-focused networking and panel discussions in Fox’s Los Angeles office and is leading a “Female Founders” series of events for women in business. She also produces the podcast, “Legally EmpowHERed,” where she shares insights she’d give a close friend who was launching and growing a business.
"I focus on topics relevant to female business owners and attorneys,” she told the Daily Journal about the podcast. “In our new season, we’re doing Women’s History Month, Latin America History Month and other things… It allows me to connect with some wonderful lawyers.”
A partner in the Labor & Employment Department, Pynes has worked with many clients regarding the new California AB 1076 and SB 699 laws, which codify restrictions on the use of non-compete agreements and mandate employers to notify current and former workers that such agreements are void. Throughout the last year, she has helped clients comply with the new legislation by rolling out revised offer letters, confidentiality agreements, policies and notices.
“Courts have slowly chipped away at these restrictions, and, at the national level, the Federal Trade Commission recently passed a non-compete ban similar to California’s,” she said.
Pynes compares the ever-shifting employment law landscape to moves in a chess game. She works carefully to think several moves ahead, develops strategies to guide clients though employee relations matters to prevent or minimize potential future claims and keeps clients protected and in compliance with labor laws.
