In the Ventura Superior Court, plaintiff James Ragland has filed a lawsuit against defendant Bruce Kammerich and Does 1 to 10, inclusive. The case ID is 2023CUPP017728 and was submitted on December 15, 2023. The suit alleges assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence.

The plaintiff's attorney, Garry S. Malin of Law Offices of Garry S. Malin, detailed the incidents leading to the lawsuit. Kammerich allegedly routinely hit golf balls dangerously close to Ragland's group at Simi Hills Golf Course despite repeated requests to stop doing so. On August 11, 2022, one such incident escalated when Kammerich's golf ball nearly struck Ragland and another person in their golf cart.

Following an exchange of words between the two groups, Ragland approached Kammerich's group where his cart unintentionally grazed Kammerich. In response, Kammerich allegedly struck Ragland with a golf club and assaulted him physically causing serious injuries and damages.

Ragland seeks judgment for damages incurred due to the assault by Kammerich and Does 1 to 10 inclusive. He has requested a jury trial for this case.
