The operators of the Juicy Couture website have been accused of secretly installing spyware on the devices of their site visitors, according to a new lawsuit.
The case was first lodged in November in Los Angeles County Superior Court, and was later removed to Los Angeles federal court on December 29.
The lawsuit alleges that Cart.com, the operator of the Juicy Couture site, used the spyware to de-anonymize every visitor, enabling them to monetize and share each visitor's identity and browsing habits with various third parties.
The lawsuit was filed by attorney Scott J. Ferrell, of Pacific Trial Attorneys, of Newport Beach, on behalf of named plaintiff Bryan Diaz.
The plaintiff claims that his personal identifiable information was shared without his knowledge or consent, which is allegedly a violation of California law.
The plaintiffs are demanding unspecified statutory damages and punitive damages, plus attorneys’ fees.
