LOS ANGELES — Evil Genius Games alleges that Netflix violated a contract to develop a game to accompany the streaming giant's release of Rebel Moon, the new sci-fi film by Zach Snyder.

The game developer and publisher — which has developed a roleplaying system for a wide range of officially licensed movie franchise campaigns — filed the complaint on Sept. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Netflix.

According to the complaint, Netflix has accused Evil Genius Games of breaching the licensing agreement from March 2023, has refused to pay the game company for its extensive services, and is attempting to steal its intellectual property.

Evil Genius Games asserts that no breach occurred and that the parties were always in agreement over licensing and usage decisions. In response, Even Genius Games filed the suit to reclaim its intellectual property and seek damages for Netflix’s alleged bad faith conduct.

Evil Genius Games has requested a jury trial. The company is represented by Kibler Fowler & Cave LLP.
