Ian C. Ballon, co-chair of the Global Intellectual Property (IP) & Technology Practice of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, is set to present at Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law’s IP-Con 2023: The Coming Vortex in Redwood Shores, Calif., on Sept. 29.
Presented by the McCarthy Institute at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, the conference will discuss the convergence of artificial intelligence, intellectual property, and regulation.
Ballon will speak on a panel titled “An In-House Look at AI Development within a Growing Regulatory Landscape.” Ballon will speak about how companies are balancing intellectual property and other proprietary rights in using generative AI and training algorithms for ML and AI.
Ballon is an IP and Internet litigator who represents clients in copyright, Digital Millennium Copyright Act, trademark, trade secret, right of publicity, privacy, security, software, database, and Internet- and mobile-related disputes. He also represents clients in the defense of class action suits involving data privacy, cybersecurity breaches, adtech and behavioral advertising, TCPA, and other Internet-related matters. In addition to his practice, Ballon is the author of the five-volume legal treatise, E-Commerce and Internet Law: Treatise With Forms 2d Edition (West 2008 & 2022 Cum. Supp., www.ianballon.net) and the earlier first edition, which has been cited in state and federal court opinions.
