Mara Curtis, a partner in Reed Smith’s Labor & Employment Group, has earned a spot in the Los Angeles Business Journal’s inaugural 2022 Leaders of Influence - Labor & Employment Attorneys guide.

Curtis, still under 40 years of age, “has already distinguished herself as one of the nation’s leading lawyers in wage and hour law for cutting-edge industries, particularly the gig-economy, transportation, health care and retail sectors.”

“She has played a lead role in many of the most significant wage and hour cases of the recent past – many of which involve high-risk operational, classification and/or business model challenges that make them fundamentally different from other employment litigation,” the guide said.

Curtis is lead counsel on more than 25 ongoing class/representative action lawsuits in California, including nine in the transportation industry.

Curtis was named to the Daily Journal’s 2020 Top 40 under 40 list in California, and was a BTI Client Service All-Star in 2020. She has been selected as a Women of Influence-Attorney by the LA Business Journal and most recently, she was named by The Recorder as one of its 2022 Lawyers on the Fast Track.

She is an active member of the Women’s Initiative Network at Reed Smith (WINRS), a global firm-wide network of more than 800 women lawyers that actively promotes women’s career advancement in business and law.

Curtis also is an active participant in the “#SeeHer,” the movement to increase accurate portrayals of women and girls in advertising and media.
