Fox Rothschild LLP congratulates Heidy Vaquerano, who was recognized by The National Law Journal as a Cryptocurrency | Blockchain | Fintech Trailblazer, a sought-after distinction that honors agents of change in the legal industry.

By recognizing blockchain’s potential early in its emergence, Vaquerano was able to immerse herself in the technology and intellectual property law implications to advise clients on deals involving NFTs, blockchain and other crypto assets. She is the point person for the firm’s Entertainment & Sports Law Department regarding negotiation of NFT, web3 and blockchain deals, and has negotiated NFT deals for firm clients with major platforms such as Yellow Heart and Ethernity. She works with clients to evaluate IP licenses for their NFT collections, advising them on the different types of commercial licenses available and the benefits of each. She also advises on the unique issues associated with commodities sold on the blockchain, including rights clearance and payment methods, and offers advice on terms of service and contracts for launching a metaverse.

“I’ve always wanted to bridge the interdependent worlds of entertainment and technology and increase opportunity for women founders and underserved communities. Being a leader in today’s market requires a deep understanding of blockchain and its associated legal issues, along with the future of the tech pipeline,” said Vaquerano in an interview with The National Law Journal. “I’ve worked closely with clients to help them take advantage of the blockchain-based technologies to identify and execute on opportunities that advance their businesses and realize the true value of their art.”

As part of her broader mission in the space, Vaquerano aims to help underrepresented groups, such as women and the Latinx community, to access this potentially lucrative market. She currently advises a client in the process of launching the Futuro NFT platform for Latin music artists, which will include NFTs, ticketing and digital merchandise, to create the first Latinx marketplace in the industry.
