California Congressional candidate Mike Cargile is the top Republican vote-getter for District 35

Cargile, a filmmaker, garnered 25.2% of the vote compared to his Democratic opponent Norma Torres, who collected 53.7% of the vote. He also defeated Republican rivals Rafael Carcamo who garnered 11.1% of the vote and Bob Erbst who secured 5.0%

“The biggest inference you can draw right now is the anemic participation statewide of this election,” he said. “A lot of people just aren't paying attention to primaries and some Republicans say they don't want to vote because they don't think their vote counts due to the amount of fraud.”

The voter participation rate in San Bernadino was 22% compared to 28% in Riverside and 22% in Los Angeles, according to the Secretary of State's website.

“Some Californians feel like voting is a luxury they can't afford,” Cargile told the Southern California Record. “They're worried about gas. They're worried about paying their utilities and they just don't have time to think about politics.”

Assemblyman Kevin Kiley defeated fellow Republican Scott Jones with 36.5% of the vote in the new Congressional District 3.

Kiley will face Democratic candidate Kermit Jones who garnered 40.5% of the vote on Nov. 8.

“We’ve always thought California is manipulated by both parties and the ones that are advancing are the ones that have GOP backing,” said Cargile who is the GOP nominee for District 35.

Cargile plans to increase messaging in the Latino community in order to defeat his Democrat opponent Norma Torres.

"We're doing a multitude of things from canvassing to phone banking and bringing in a social media presence," he said. "It's so bad for her right now that she had to turn off the comments on her congressional Twitter account because people are slamming her so bad."

Chris Bish was not backed by the GOP in Congressional District 6. Instead, it was Tamika Hamilton whom the GOP endorsed and Hamilton is advancing to the November election with 17.7% of the vote. Bish secured 7.4% of the vote and the Democratic candidate Ami Bera scored 54.1% of the vote.

Hamilton also defeated Republican colleagues Bret Daniels, Karla Black, and D. Keith Langford, Jr.

In Congressional District 36, GOP-backed Joe E. Collins III defeated three Republicans with 13.5% of the vote. In November, Collins will face Democratic candidate Ted W. Lieu, who collected  66%.

Although Ronda Kennedy is the GOP endorsed candidate in the highly contested Congressional District 30 where Democrat Adam Schiff is the incumbent, drag queen candidate Maebe A. Girl Pudlo, a Democrat, collected 12.6% of the vote compared to 8.6% for Kennedy. Independent candidate Tony Rodriguez secured 0.9% of the vote while Schiff took 62.4% of the vote.
