Morgan Lewis partner Mike Lyons has been recognized by the Daily Journal as a Top Intellectual Property Lawyer in California for 2022. The annual list recognizes California lawyers who have made significant contributions to intellectual property law in the past year. Mike has been named to the distinguished list of lawyers twice before.
In particular, Daily Journal highlighted Mike’s efforts to secure a major International Trade Commission victory for three client groups in a complex patent infringement case involving wireless networking and routing technology.
Mike leads the Silicon Valley litigation practice and brings more than 25 years of experience to his intellectual property rights practice. In 2018, he obtained a $268 million verdict in California on behalf of the Alfred E. Mann Foundation in a patent infringement action against Cochlear. The judgement reinstated a $134 million jury verdict from 2014 and then doubled the damages for willful infringement, ranking it among the largest patent damages awards in 2018. Mike’s copyright, trade secret, and other technology-focused litigation involves tools that range from video streaming and consumer electronics circuit architecture to medical devices. He also maintains an active pro bono practice with a recent focus on immigration and domestic violence matters.
