Jones Day issued the following announcement on Sept. 21.
Karen P. Hewitt, a partner in Jones Day's Business & Tort Litigation Practice and Partner-in-Charge of the Firm's California Region, was named to the Daily Journal's annual list of the "Top 100 Lawyers in California."
Ms. Hewitt leads a team of nearly 275 lawyers who represent major companies in California, nationally, and internationally on their most complex issues and disputes relating to civil litigation, white collar matters, and investigations. Before joining Jones Day in 2010, she served with the U.S. Department of Justice for 18 years and served as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California from 2007-2010.
This is the ninth time Ms. Hewitt has been honored in "Top 100 Lawyers," having been named from 2012-2016 and 2018-2021. She is the lead Jones Day partner serving as outside counsel for Walmart in the nationwide series of more than 2,000 civil cases arising from the current opioid crisis. She also is leading the defense of several major companies in pending confidential criminal and civil investigations brought by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Ms. Hewitt is the 2021-2022 President of National Association of Former U.S. Attorneys; sits on the Board of Visitors for University of San Diego School of Law; and is a Master, Enright Inn of Court.
