Bakerhostetler issued the following announcement on July 13.

BakerHostetler announced that Bethany G. Lukitsch has joined the firm as a partner in its Los Angeles office. Lukitsch will be a member of the firm’s litigation practice group and serve as co-leader of BakerHostetler’s class action defense team.

“I am honored to become a part of BakerHostetler's impressive litigation practice group,” said Lukitsch. “The firm’s commitment to West Coast growth, and the complexity and breadth of its class action practice, are extremely attractive. BakerHostetler is building a destination trial practice in Los Angeles, and I am thrilled to join.”

Lukitsch is the latest in a string of first-chair trial litigators to join BakerHostetler’s West Coast offices. Her arrival builds upon the addition of California trial lawyers Robb Adkins, David Aronoff, Kimberly Morris, Bill Oxley and David Stern, covering consumer protection and false advertising, securities and financial services, products liability and mass tort and white collar matters. Since 2019 the firm has added more than 35 attorneys on the West Coast, including opening an office in San Francisco.

“Bethany is a perfect complement to the consumer class action and products liability capabilities that we have added in Los Angeles,” said Eric Sagerman, managing partner of the BakerHostetler Los Angeles office. I couldn’t be more excited to have her as part of the team."

Before joining BakerHostetler, Lukitsch chaired her previous firm’s class action practice and also led the data and privacy team’s litigation subgroup. She has more than 20 years of experience litigating class actions and complex litigation, including the defense of consumer class actions, antitrust cases, mass tort and product liability claims, data privacy matters and commercial disputes. Her clients are among the Fortune 500, and she recently won the dismissal of two consumer class actions on behalf of several large national retailers in Pennsylvania in connection with pandemic-related sales tax exemption issues for cloth face masks.

“Bethany is extremely talented and will further enhance BakerHostetler’s litigation bench,” said litigation practice group chair, Ray Whitman. “Bethany’s decades of experience, combined with her impressive client roster, make a strong addition to both our Los Angeles office and nationwide litigation group.”

“I am thrilled to have Bethany join me as co-leader of the class action defense team,” said Julie Singer Brady, partner in the firm’s Orlando office. “Her experience in consumer related matters, along with her impressive list of clients, will be a true asset to the firm.”

Lukitsch earned her J.D. from the University of Richmond in 1998 and attended The College of William & Mary for her undergraduate education.

With nearly 400 litigators in offices coast to coast, BakerHostetler’s litigation practice group represents market-leading clients in virtually every type of case and proceeding, nationally and around the world. The group’s roster of litigators includes former prosecutors, veteran civil trial lawyers and former enforcement officials from various government agencies. Recognized as a “go-to law firm” for its deep bench, commitment to client needs and tenacity, BakerHostetler’s litigation practice group successfully protects clients in and out of the courtroom.
