FRESNO - A Mendota family wants after their husband/father was killed in a head-on collision with a truck that experienced sudden tire failure.

The complaint was filed on April 1 in the Fresno County Superior Court by plaintiffs Priscilla Castro, Sandra Castro, Victor Castro and Christina Angela Martinez. According to the documents, decedent Aristeo Castro was traveling on State Route 180 in his Honda Civic on Feb. 15, 2021.

At the same time defendant Diego Cassio was heading in the opposite direction in his Ford F250 pickup truck. The truck had tires by defendant Cooper Tire and Rubber Company.

The suit says that the truck experienced a sudden tire failure that caused Cassio to lose control of his vehicle, swerving directly into the decedent's path, striking him head-on and killing him.

Cooper Tire and Rubber Company is sued for strict product liability and negligence; Cassio is sued for negligence.

The Mendota family requests at least $150,000 in restitution. They are represented by Greene Broillet and Wheeler LLP.
