FRESNO - A deadly attack on a two-year-old boy by two Rottweilers in 2019 is the basis of a lawsuit against the owners in the Fresno County Superior Court.
According to documents filed on March 18, defendants Clarence Willians and Nicole Crozier owned two Rottweilers at their home on Keviland Ave. The dogs dug under a fence and escaped their yard on March 22, 2019, and ran into the yard of plaintiffs Myra Granda, Maria Granda and Filadelfo Granda, the suit says.
Two-year-old Jaysiah Chavez was playing in the front yard with his grandmother Maria nearby when the dogs ran up and viciously attacked and mauled him unwarranted, the suit claims.
The boy passed that day of his injuries; the grandmother was also injured trying to protect him from the dogs.
The California Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Fresno County Humane Society were named in the suit in addition to the owners for failing to identify and remedy a situation in which dangerous animals were being homed in a family neighborhood.
The defendants are charged with dog bite liability, negligence and negligent infliction of emotional distress. The family is requesting compensation for their suffering outside of the court's limits. They are represented by the Law Office of Richard A. Torres.
