FRESNO - A widow and her daughter want payback from Foster Poultry Farms after their deceased husband and father died doing electrical work at the farm, according to a lawsuit filed on March 2 in the Fresno County Superior Court.

Victor Gamez was working as an electrical apprentice on June 19, 2020, with JTI Electrical and Instrumentation, Inc. at Foster. According to the suit, he was working in an attic space above the chicken evisceration area, where alleged dangerous conditions included poor lighting, no lock-out tag-out before Gamez began his work, not turning off the electricity to the area where he was working and failing to notify the decedent of exposed live high-voltage wires.

Gamez came into contact with one of the exposed wires and died by electrocution.

Plaintiffs Brooke Gamez and her daughter Nora Gamez sued Foster for premises liability and negligence. The family is represented by Sweet James LLP.
