FRESNO - The St. Agnes Medical Center and numerous health care professionals were named in a lawsuit from a man who says his father died from wrongful medical treatment, according to documents filed on Feb. 11 in the Fresno County Superior Court.
Plaintiff Sam Southichak's father, George Southichak, was 76 years old and a stroke survivor. He was admitted to the St. Agnes Emergency Room on Nov. 13, 2017, for a lower gastrointestinal bleed that was causing tiredness, paleness and feebleness.
The suit accuses the hospital and several nurses and physicians who were present of discharging the man despite obvious distress and the immediate need for admittance.
George Southichak's timeline of his health and death after the discharge is not detailed in the suit.
The entire list of St. Agnes medical employees named in the suit are: Doctors Alan Givertz and Naveep S Gill and registered nurses Brandaly R Chang and Heidi Frembling.
All defendants are sued for medical malpractice. The plaintiff seeks general, compensatory and punitive damages. Southichak is representing himself.
