CLARK HILL PLC: INTERPOL, Red Notices, and the Immigrant: Opportunities for Creative Legal Advocacy

Law

Clark Hill PLC recently issued the following announcement.

Description:

Considerable misinformation surrounds the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) and its functions. While Hollywood depicts INTERPOL as having seemingly limitless authority and resources to pursue international terrorists and drug cartels, the group in reality is not a law enforcement agency and does not have the power to make arrests.

Nonetheless, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) uses INTERPOL Red Notices in its targeting and detention of foreign nationals, even though these notices are not a sufficient basis for arrest under U.S. law. International activists, journalists, and business people alike are required to seek counsel to challenge these abusive Red Notices and their often drastic immigration consequences.

Join Clark Hill and Grossman Young & Hammond for a webinar as they introduce a niche practice developed to provide advice and counsel to foreign nationals in the U.S. who have been targeted by DHS because of INTERPOL.

The webinar will benefit immigration attorneys, especially those with international law, human rights, or corporate practices, as the presenting firms will provide an overview of INTERPOL Red Notices. Attorneys will explain the challenges created by the U.S. immigration system and provide examples of legal strategies previously used in INTERPOL cases, as well as opportunities for reform.

This unique practice area touches on aspects of international law, white collar criminal defense, human rights law, administrative law, criminal and extradition law, and immigration law.
