McGuireWoods issued the following announcement on Dec. 02.
McGuireWoods is among an exclusive group recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal in its inaugural “Best Law Firms of Los Angeles” issue, which singles out firms for creating diverse, positive and supportive work environments to attract and retain talented lawyers.
LABJ selected just 25 firms as the best to work for in the region based on factors such as company culture; employee compensation, benefits and programs; and diversity and women’s initiatives.
McGuireWoods — which has offices in Century City and downtown Los Angeles — “ensures a stimulating work environment and rewards associates who provide the highest level of client service and who demonstrate a skill for cultivating new clients,” the publication noted.
The firm “challenges itself to recruit, develop, advance and retain the best lawyers and it has a formal lateral process to ensure a smooth, successful transition,” LABJ explained. “The firm also identifies and promotes associates who understand the need to go the extra mile, and who take a result from good to great.”
McGuireWoods welcomed three new partners to Los Angeles this year: In Century City, Remy Kessler joined the Labor & Employment Department, and in downtown L.A., former federal prosecutor Kevin Lally joined the Government Investigations & White Collar Litigation Department and Tanya Greene joined the Complex Commercial Litigation Department.
LABJ also lauded the firm’s six lawyer affinity networks — Women, African-American, Asian Pacific, Hispanic/Latinx, LGBTQ and Veteran — which support the success of women and lawyers from diverse backgrounds and provide networking, business development and personal growth opportunities.
“The firm is committed to creating opportunities for our lawyers to thrive professionally and personally, and it shows in our ability to provide the highest level of service to our clients,” said Richard Grant, managing partner of the firm’s Century City office.
“We are proud to be recognized for fostering an inclusive and supportive culture that makes McGuireWoods such an attractive and rewarding place to work,” added Hamid Namazie, managing partner of the downtown Los Angeles office.
