Summer 2019 Interns

Asmerom Nur: Born in Ethiopia and raised in Harlem, NY, Asmerom will be going to his senior year as a Political Science major at Hunter College. Coming from a public service background, Asmerom always knew that he wanted his future career to be centered in helping the most vulnerable. Whether it be volunteering for various local political campaigns or being a Public Service Grove Fellow at Hunter College, Asmerom wants to apply these passions in his time during law school and his career afterwards.

“Being an intern with Wolf Haldenstein was an incredible experience which has advanced my preparation for law school. This experience has allowed me to see the inner workings of a rich legal environment while improving my communication and comprehension skills. It felt great to be at a firm with brilliant attorneys all working hand in hand to preserve the law and advance justice for the most vulnerable of clients.”

Justin Alvarez-Herman: Born in San Antonio, Texas and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Justin is a recent college graduate from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Having finished his undergraduate degree with a major in Political Science and Minor in Law, Justin is looking to take the following year off from school to gain experience in the field of law. Previously, Justin has put his Political Science background to work through his help on two separate political campaigns one for the New York City Council and the other for the New York State Assembly. Driven by the urge to help others, Justin hopes to attend Law School in the Fall of 2020 where he will work towards his goal of becoming a Lawyer in order to use the Law to provide a positive change to the lives of others.

“The eight weeks I spent working at Wolf Haldenstein will certainly go down as my favorite span of weeks for the summer of 2019. The internship provided me with an amazing experience and opportunity to work alongside other passionate and determined individuals who have similar goals in mind. Further, I was able to work alongside partners and associates within the firm and gain a true understanding for their work. Observing the passion and dedication that the individuals within the firm put towards their work on a daily basis solidified my hope and goal to continue on the path to becoming a lawyer. I am beyond grateful for this experience.”

Kyle Burrus: A Southern California native, Kyle is a senior studying Mathematics and Physics at Hunter College. At a young age he was unable to understand the court’s decision after his parents’ divorce and ensuing custody battle. He developed a drive to become a lawyer and ensure that the voices of children and those underrepresented are heard in the courtroom. Kyle holds a 3.67 GPA and will graduate in Spring 2020 with plans to attend law school in the Fall.

“My experience at Wolf Haldenstein has confirmed that becoming an attorney is what I want to do with my life. Being able to work with people who have such a passion for the work they do is amazing to see and made me look forward to coming into work every day. While I wish I could stay longer, the skills they have taught me will help me in law school and throughout my career.”
