Reed Smith partners Curtis and Terry recognized as Leaders of Influence by LA Business Journal

Reed Smith, a global law firm, is pleased to announce that labor and employment partners Mara Curtis and Jenny Terry have been named as Leaders of Influence: Labor & Employment Attorneys by the Los Angeles Business Journal. The Oct. 14 publication honors the most influential and accomplished lawyers in the field of labor and employment in the Los Angeles area.

Curtis, a partner in the Labor & Employment Group, has distinguished herself as one of the nation’s leading lawyers in wage and hour law for cutting-edge industries, particularly the gig-economy, transportation, health care and retail sectors. Curtis has played lead roles in many of the most significant wage and hour cases of the recent past, and she has successfully defended employers in numerous class actions involving overtime, minimum wage, meal and rest periods, waiting-time penalties and wage statement claims. She has also advised clients on employment law aspects of corporate transactions, discrimination and harassment issues, and compliance with federal and state regulations. Curtis is recognized as a top labor and employment lawyer by various publications, including the Daily Journal, the LA Business Journal, the Recorder, and BTI Consulting Group. She was also featured in the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Leader of Influence issue in 2022.

Terry, the managing partner of Reed Smith’s Los Angeles office and a member of its Labor & Employment Group, provides management-side counseling and litigation defense to employers of all sizes, with a focus on the retail, food and beverage, transportation and logistics, life sciences, consumer products and tech sectors. She also leads the restaurant and food services subgroup for Reed Smith's Retail Industry Group. Terry has extensive experience in handling discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour, unfair competition and employee mobility cases, as well as advising clients on best practices, policies and contracts. She conducts independent investigations into allegations of misconduct by senior-level employees at major companies. Terry has authored several articles on California employment law developments for Reed Smith's Employment Law Watch blog.
