Thompson Coburn Los Angeles managing partner Jennifer Post was named to the Daily Journal's 2024 Top Women Lawyers list. The annual list honors top-performing lawyers in California.
In a profile by the publication, Jennifer discussed her experiences from three decades of practicing corporate finance and securities law. She said what captivates her most about the practice is the business side of structuring deals. "Understanding the tensions and opportunities in negotiations is very interesting, and helping my clients see their leverage points in various deal structures and business environments is also very rewarding," she said. "At the end of the day, I help my clients succeed in financial, business, or personal transactions, which is a great feeling."
One transaction stood out in particular involving a venture lending client and an organic food company, which dealt with issues related to cultivation, storage, processing, and more, within a multi-state and highly regulated environment, she said.
When asked about trends, Jennifer also discussed the rise of AI.
"There will be emerging laws as cases and legislation take shape, and new insights and developments will be required to review due diligence and assess risks in funding, lending and M&A," she said. "Also, there will be a fallout as the major tech companies compete to dominate the field, which will likely free up talent and financing sources who will try to create yet more competition, fill niches or create complementary services and products."
