In a lawsuit filed in the Court of Appeal of the State of California, Second Appellate District, Division Two, plaintiff Farhad Nowzari is appealing against Torrance Memorial Medical Center and others. The case ID is B321862 consolidated with B324119, and it was filed on May 2, 2024.

Dr. Farhad Nowzari, a board-certified urologist who had been a member of the Medical Staff at Torrance Memorial Medical Center since 2002, had his privileges restricted after three patients under his care died within a five-month period in 2017. Represented by Joel Bruce Douglas and Edward Idell from Bonne, Bridges, Mueller, O'Keefe & Nichols, Nowzari challenged this decision through an arbitrator and then the hospital's review board but was unsuccessful.

Nowzari petitioned for a writ of mandate to overturn the review board's decision; however, his petition was denied. Furthermore, attorney fees were awarded as a sanction for what was deemed unfounded and unreasonable claims made by Nowzari. Kenneth R. Pedroza and Cassidy C. Davenport from Cole Pedroza represented the defendants.
