Saide Lugo, a former employee of Pixior, LLC, filed a lawsuit against the company and some of its employees for malicious prosecution in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County (Case No. 22STCV17590) on April 18, 2024. The case was presided over by Judge Mark V. Mooney. Lugo accused Pixior of falsely reporting her to the police, which led to criminal charges against her that were later dismissed.

Lugo's claim is based on Pixior's allegations that she deleted valuable computer files after quitting her job out of spite. However, Lugo maintains that these charges were fabricated in an attempt to discredit her as she was about to assist Pixior's adversary in an impending dispute. Despite their disagreements, both parties concur that Pixior reported Lugo to the police who subsequently arrested and charged her.

In response to the malicious prosecution lawsuit, Pixior filed a special motion to strike which was erroneously denied by the trial court. As per law, Pixior had a valid defense: criminal prosecutors acted only after an independent investigation. The denial of Pixior’s motion was deemed erroneous.
