A class action lawsuit has accused wireless service provider T-Mobile of allegedly misleading customers - particularly Spanish speaking customers - into agreeing to add-on fees on their monthly cell phone bills.

The lawsuit was initially filed in November in Los Angeles County Superior Court, but was removed to federal court in L.A. on Feb. 29.

The named plaintiff in the action is Esperanza Reyes Rendon, represented by Gomez Law Group.

The lawsuit alleges Rendon and other T-Mobile customers were billed for extra charges of $13.96 per month on their family subscription plan. They argue T-Mobile is responsible for these unexpected fees, which have allegedly brought in hundreds of millions of dollars for T-Mobile from California customers.

The lawsuit seeks to expand the action to include all T-Mobile customers in California who may have been billed for those allegedly unauthorized fees.

Plaintiffs are seeking compensatory and punitive damages, plus attorney fees.

Plaintiffs are represented by attorneys Alvin M. Gomez and Boris Smyslov, of Gomez Law Group, of Carlsbad.
