Reed Smith promoted office managing partners in two of its three offices in Southern California. Corporate partner Ashok Mukhey succeeds Ernie Ocampo in the firm’s Century City office, and labor and employment partner Jennifer Terry succeeds Amber Finch in its downtown Los Angeles office.

“We thank Ernie and Amber for their many contributions in these leadership roles,” says Global Managing Partner Casey Ryan. “We look forward to Ashok and Jennifer carrying on our strong tradition of offering a dynamic legal experience that is as robust and innovative as the Southern California business landscape. Their advancement underscores Reed Smith’s strong pipeline of leaders ready to contribute their management experience, leadership skill and community involvement to ensure Reed Smith’s continued growth and impact.”

Ashok Mukhey is a member of Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group. A graduate of Harvard Law School, his practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, public and private offerings of debt and equity securities, representation of public companies, and a wide variety of other corporate transactions and general corporate representation. Moreover, his in-depth experience spans a variety of industries, including life sciences, gaming and hospitality, entertainment, technology, manufacturing and medical devices.

Jennifer Terry is a member of Reed Smith’s Labor & Employment Group and graduated from Hastings College of Law at the University of California. In her practice, she navigates high stakes employment litigation for companies of all sizes, particularly in the areas of retail, food and beverage, luxury goods, consumer products, life sciences and entertainment. Her experience includes the defense of C-Suite leaders in high-profile sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation claims, and she has successfully tried cases through verdict, summary judgment and mediation. Jennifer is recognized as an effective counselor in compliance and regulatory issues. She frequently advises C-Suite executives and corporate boards on highly sensitive matters impacting their labor force.

Both Terry and Mukhey agree that a top priority is growth in both Southern California offices. “Century City is particularly focused on expanding the corporate and transactional capabilities of our already well-established practice,” Mukhey says. “We are always looking to add high-quality laterals, especially in the areas of corporate, entertainment and emerging technology, which are all areas of particular strength for us in Southern California.”

“Ashok and I are on the same page with respect to fostering and supporting the growth of our offices, particularly where we already have critical mass.” Terry says. “Los Angeles has nationally recognized, robust practices in litigation and products liability, life sciences, health care, insurance recovery, and labor and employment. We would love to add talented people to these strengths. In addition, associate engagement and training is a passion of mine. I am highly focused on this to ensure that our next generation of leaders have the support needed for them to flourish long term at Reed Smith.”

Terry’s community engagement activities include sitting on the board of directors for LACBA’s Counsel for Justice, as well as serving her prior nine-year term on the board of the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus, the premier children’s choral organization in L.A., which included three years as chair.

Reed Smith has five offices in California, including downtown Los Angeles, Century City, Orange County, Silicon Valley and San Francisco – and globally it has more than 30 offices in the US, UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia.
