The Latina Lawyers Bar Association (LLBA) is honoring Reed Smith partner Mildred Segura with its 2023 Luminaria Award. Mildred is one of a few women who are “paving the future for Latinas in Los Angeles,” according to the organization.
Segura concentrates on complex product liability cases with particular emphasis on medical device, prescription drug, public institution, managed care and toxic tort litigation, including class and multidistrict actions, in state and federal courts. She also advises clients on product liability risks related to the intersection of artificial intelligence and life sciences.
She is a diversity leader at Reed Smith and has served as firmwide partner chair of the Hispanic/Latino Business Inclusion Group. She also dedicates her time to community and pro bono initiatives, having served on the boards of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Counsel for Justice, the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, and UCLA School of Law Alumni.
Segura is the co-chair of the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Health & Life Sciences Law Section. As a first-generation attorney of Guatemalan heritage, Segura is deeply committed not only to maintaining but to increasing diverse talent in big law, especially in the health and life sciences space.
Mildred will receive this honor on October 27 at the LLBA Awards and Scholarship Dinner in Los Angeles.
