An LGBTQ organization that opposes child gender reassignment surgery and pedophilia is surprised that the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has closed an anti-human trafficking investigation into a popular LGBTQ chat room.
“TrevorSpace explicitly states that pushing what is basically pedophilic sexual content is a good thing,” Gays Against Groomer's communications director Jude Rose alleges. “It does warn against children meeting adults, but it still facilitates some pretty disgusting dialogue.”
TrevorSpace is marketed as a supportive online community for LGBTQ youths between the ages of 13 and 24 years old and is linked to The Trevor Project, a nonprofit LGBTQ suicide prevention counseling platform that was promoted by former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi in 2010 on YouTube.
However, Gays Against Groomers views TrevorSpace as a gateway.
“There are some seriously dangerous things going on in these chat rooms,” Rose said. “The chat room is a great place for pedophiles to meet children and then bring them to another chat space.”
A Moms for Liberty Chapter Leader in Riverside County was among the teachers and parents who called the police after discovering that elementary school students were directed to TrevorSpace chatrooms on the Desert Sands Unified School District website, according to media reports.
“This issue is much bigger than we could have ever imagined,” Rose told the Southern California Record. “More information will be coming out in the near future as we connect the dots and compile the data. I wouldn't go so far as to accuse TrevorSpace of child trafficking just yet but providing a space for potential pedophiles? Yes.”
Desert Sands Unified School District said the accusation was responded to.
"Any unintentional reference to TrevorSpaces was removed from our website," Desert Sands Unified School District Public Information Officer Mary Perry told the Southern California Record. "The matter is considered closed."
Gays Against Groomers was founded by Jamie Mitchell six months ago as an advocacy group of gay men and women standing up against pedophilia, gender pronouns, and child gender reassignment surgery. The group attended Turning Point USA's AmericaFest last week.
“Pedophiles are finding their way into the gay community, hiding behind these made-up identities and preying on children,” Rose said. “We want to draw the line and say that we don't approve of this. It's not appropriate to be talking about these ideologies or making these spaces for adults to talk to kids about sex.”
As previously alleged, TrevorSpace caters to children who have fallen victim to the social contagion of transitioning from one gender to another.
“The website overwhelmingly consists of this exact demographic of kids,” Rose said. “It is full of posts from children who are lonely, have low support, low self-esteem issues with body image, and difficulty socializing. These are the children that are being targeted by adults in this TrevorSpace.”
It's been widely reported that parents should monitor their child's activity online.
"If they have any kind of parental control over their internet or if they can block this site on their child's phone, I highly recommend that because it's just not worth the risk," Rose added.
The Trevor Project did not immediately respond to requests for comments about TrevorSpace.
