Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP issued the following announcement on Oct. 8.
Troutman Pepper has been recognized as the “Pro Bono Partner of the Year” by Community Legal Aid SoCal for the firm’s work with the Orange County Housing Justice Collaborative. Attorneys from Troutman Pepper’s Los Angeles and Orange County offices have been working with Community Legal Aid SoCal in their mission to provide secure housing and help families stay in their homes.
Over the past year, a Troutman Pepper team, including Samantha Burdick, Oscar Figueroa, Lauren Grochow, Cindy Lee, Kristalyn Lee, Andrew Raunau, Bryan Sonksen, and Whitney Tantisuwanna, has led Community Legal Aid SoCal’s Housing Assistance Clinic, which is provided on a weekly basis to members of the community facing eviction. Attorneys assist in preparing responses to complaints and, in some cases, will file a motion on an individual’s behalf and argue the motion before the court. Throughout the duration of the clinic, the team has been able to deliver a significant number of wins that resulted in landlords dismissing their cases against tenants.
The clinic has been successful in protecting vulnerable members of the Orange County and Los Angeles communities and has been providing legal resources to underrepresented groups in Orange County and beyond for over 60 years. The organization offers services and provides legal clinics on a wide range of practice areas including family law, immigration, social security, bankruptcy, housing, and heath services.
