LOS ANGELES -- A man is suing Los Angeles County and individual police officers alleging suffering assault and battery.
Moheb Bottros filed a complaint on June 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against the County of Los Angeles, Deputy McGee, Captain David J. Sprenger, Lt. Camacho and Does 1-10 for violation of civil rights, Monell Claim, failure to supervise, assault and battery, false arrest, torts in essence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, Banes Civil Rights Claim and negligence.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 21, 2020, Bottros called for the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department (LASD) relating to threats of violence against himself by an unknown male who had unlawfully parked in Bottros' tenant's space.
Bottros' daughter told him about the trespasser, and Bottros went to investigate, finding someone illegally parked in the alley behind his home. The person in the vehicle threatened Bottros' who then called LASD, the suit says.
Bottros alleges that when Deputy McGee came on scene, he was hostile, angry and had an aggressive demeanor. McGee then began using profanity, allegedly assaulted Bottros and then arrested him, while also denying medical attention Bottros requested.
Paramedics arrived on scene to take Bottros to Lakewood Reginal Medical Center for his injuries, the suit says. Bottros alleges that Lt. Camacho then conducted a mandatory Use of Force inquiry and steps were taken to cover up McGee's action that night, the suit claims.
Bottros then took his concerns to Captain David Sprenger and was refused, the suit says. On Jan. 21, 2021, Bottros attended Compton Court and was told that no criminal charges would be brought against McGee, the suit says.
Bottros seeks general damages, special and punitive damages, attorney's fees and cost of suit. Bottros is represented by Gary S. Casselman of Casselman Law Offices.
