Man files lawsuit against U.S. Air Force after F-16 crashes into warehouse

Federal Court
Rjaf f 16

LOS ANGELES - A civilian man claims to have suffered economic and non-economic damages after an F-16 crashed into a warehouse.

Luis Flores, by and through his attorneys of record, filed a complaint on May 7, 2021 in the U.S. District Court Central District of California against the U.S. Air Force for negligence.

According to the complaint, Luis Flores allegedly was working in a warehouse when an F-16, commissioned and operated by the U.S. Air Force assigned to the 114th Fighter Wing Jose Foss Field, crashed into the facility in which Flores was working on May 16, 2019, at about 3:39 p.m. The complaint alleges that the Detachment Commander of the United States Air Force authorized the training mission as part of a practice of an aerospace control alert scramble with two other F-16's.

According to the complaint, the F-16C received cockpit warnings of a possible hydraulic system issue and was directed to land on roadway 14. The pilot then lost control during landing, roughly one nautical mile short of the runway and with controls unresponsive, causing the F-16 to go through the warehouse roof.

Luis Flores seeks general damages and compensation for damages. Flores is represented by Christopher B. Dolan of Dolan Law Firm, PC.
