Sheppard Mullin issued the following announcement on Apr. 27.
Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is pleased to announce that Todd E. Lundell has joined the firm’s Orange County office as a partner in the Appellate practice group. Lundell is a Certified Specialist in Appellate Law and is an elected member of the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers. He was most recently a partner at Snell & Wilmer.
“Todd’s senior appellate expertise is a terrific complement to our existing capabilities,” said Sheppard Mullin managing partner Robert Beall. “The fact that he is barred in California and New York is a real bonus for us, as he will be able to help our litigators on both coasts.”
Commenting on the addition of Lundell, Karin Vogel, Leader of the firm’s Appellate team, said, “Our appellate team is busy across the board, so the timing of having Todd join us is perfect. Given his broad and deep experience, he’ll be able to jump in right away and be a strong asset to the firm and our clients.”
Lundell has worked on various civil appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, and D.C. Circuits, and in state appellate courts in California, New York, Oregon, and West Virginia. He has also prepared certiorari petitions and merits briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court. He has considerable experience drafting merits briefs, amicus briefs, petitions for review, and petitions for writ of mandamus and supersedeas. These cases have addressed a wide variety of substantive matters including product liability, insurance law, partnership fiduciary duties and liabilities, civil RICO, state copyright law, breach of contract, tortious interference with contract, tax, securities fraud, and labor and employment. Lundell also has broad experience assisting trial counsel both during and after trial with legal strategy, complex motions, appellate preservation issues, jury instructions and verdict forms, and post-trial motions.
Lundell received his B.A. from Brigham Young University and his J.D., with honors, from Columbia University School of Law, where he was Senior Editor of the Columbia Law Review. Following law school, Lundell clerked for The Honorable Wilfred Feinberg, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
