SAN DIEGO - Four lawyers and a law firm are tangled in a March 30 lawsuit alleging legal negligence, according to documents filed in San Diego federal court.

Plaintiff Brian P. Manookian, a medical malpractice lawyer himself, hired defendants Bona Law PC, Jarod Bona, David Codell, Aaron Gott, Luke Haaskamp and Luiz Blanquez to represent him in a federal antitrust lawsuit.

The plaintiff says that his antitrust suit, which alleged that Manookian's competitors illegally prevented him from getting clients, was dismissed because the defendants missed an important mandatory filing deadline by 177 days to appeal a ruling, the suit says.

The defendants are charged with legal negligence and breach of fiduciary duty, with Manookian pursuing at least $20 million in damages.

Manookian's representation is Johnson Fistel LLP of San Diego and Spragens Law PLC of Nashville.
