LOS ANGELES - The children of a deceased couple sued a California helicopter manufacturer in Los Angeles federal court after their parents were in a fatal helicopter crash in March 2019.

Plaintiffs Steve Blais and Eric Blais say in a March 6 complaint that their parents, Jody and Nicole Blais, purchased an R66 helicopter from the Robinson Helicopter Company headquarter in Torrance. The helicopter used a Rolls-Royce engine and components from Honeywell International/Aerospace, who are also named as defendants in the case.

On March 4, 2019, the Blaises' helicopter reportedly experienced a mechanical failure and crashed near Timmons, Ontario. Nicole and Jody were killed in the crash. The Blaises allegedly had no indication that a mechanical failure was imminent in the helicopter.

Robinson Helicopter Company, Rolls-Royce and Honeywell are sued for negligence, wrongful death and survival, strict product liability and breach of warranties.

The plaintiffs are requesting funeral and burial expenses, personal property damages, punitive damages, litigation fees are other judgements. They are represented by Kimberly Barone Baden of Motley Rice LLC.
