Greenberg Traurig, LLP issued the following announcement on Jan. 28.
Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, for a fourth year, has received a score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s (HRC) 2021 Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The benchmarking survey and report measure corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality. Greenberg Traurig’s efforts in satisfying all the survey’s criteria also earned the firm the designation as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
The CEI rates companies on detailed criteria falling under four central pillars:
- Non-discrimination policies across business entities;
- Equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families;
- Supporting an inclusive culture; and,
- Corporate social responsibility.
Greenberg Traurig also received a score of 100 percent on the 2020, 2018, and 2017 CEI reports. In December 2020, the firm’s Mexico City office achieved a score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign’s Equidad MX: Global Workplace Equality Program 2020 survey. According to American Lawyer's 2020 LGBTQ+ Scorecard, Greenberg Traurig ranks second for number of LGBTQ+ partners.
“From the previously unimaginable impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, to a long overdue reckoning with racial injustice, 2020 was an unprecedented year. Yet, many businesses across the nation stepped up and continued to prioritize and champion LGBTQ equality,” said Alphonso David, Human Rights Campaign President in HRC’s press release announcing the results of the survey.
Companies rated in the CEI include the Fortune 500, American Lawyer’s top 200 law firms (Am Law 200), and hundreds of publicly and privately held mid- to large-sized businesses, according to HRC.
