Thomas (T.J.) Ferrante, a Senior Counsel in the firm’s Telemedicine Industry Team and Digital Health Group will give a virtual presentation at the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s (LACBA) meeting on June 3, 2020 at 5:30pm PT. The presentation is titled: “COVID-19 and the Mainstreaming of Telehealth.”  

Mr. Ferrante will be joined by an expert panel, including:

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is fundamentally transforming telehealth in the American health care system. Over the past few months, medical providers across the United States started, revamped and expanded their virtual care capabilities. This webinar will focus on the mainstreaming of telehealth that occurred as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic: 

Topics include:

  • Current Federal and California waivers, including for licensure, location-specific requirements, modalities, prior patient relationships, and HIPAA;
  • Enforcement flexibility during this public health emergency;
  • Expansion of reimbursement;
  • Experiences from the field, including:
    • how telehealth is being harnessed to limit exposure and prevent the spread of the virus, and
    • challenges to ramping up during the emergency; and
  • Implications for the future of virtual health.
